I'd write you a poem
Of love and happiness and beauty
If only that was the end of it
There's also heartbreak
Betrayal
Possibly even death at the end of every rainbow

I'd draw you a picture
Illustrating the truly miraculous creations
Out there
If only they weren't blinded by
Famine
Destruction
And horrid circumstances

I'd sing you a song
Telling of good fortunes
That's come and gone
If only they'd outweigh the bad
And if only I'd the talent to sing
